@Running1320
The host clearly hasn’t done his homework…total douche.

500 hp is plenty
#3 by Running1320 on February 7, 2010 - 9:00 am
That guys a tool. WTF is he complaining about. The car is running 0-60 in 3.2 sec and I’ve seen test runs at 3.0 sec flat (w/Chrono and PDK).

I’m on the line for that Cayman (RS?)! Mid-engine handling and 0-100 in 3.00 sec!

500hp and he is disappointed? Just proves why journalists never qualify for Mensa membership.

They need to start selling the cayman/boxster with this or even the older 3.6 turbo engine
#10 by SeEsAw121221 on February 7, 2010 - 1:03 pm
a stock 3.8l flat 6 making 500 hp? Tech Art will have no problem getting this to 1000hp
#11 by balzayed76 on February 7, 2010 - 1:43 pm

#12 by rotorman13b on February 7, 2010 - 2:23 pm
500hp, i’m not complaining! I’m sure you can achieve more than 500hp just by simple boost increase and remapping the fuel and timing curve, but the car seems to be quick as is. 0-60mph in the mid to low 3’s..most cars avg. 5-7 seconds to do that! You want a fast straight line car, go build yourself a top fuel dragster! when this Porsche hits 60mph, i’ll be pulling my parachute at just over 300mph! Just my 2 cents.
#13 by BerendBroekhoff on February 7, 2010 - 2:28 pm
yeah allright, if youre a porschephile you must know about the new Porsche Singer. Old school styled porsche from the 60’s but faster than a 2010 gt3!
#14 by porsche911sbs on February 7, 2010 - 3:00 pm
flat-6, not straight six. Porsche’s famous for their flat boxer engines.
(I can’t help but nit-pick, I’m a Porschephile)

#16 by MrCosmin94 on February 7, 2010 - 4:23 pm
this turbo goes 0-100 kmh in 3.4 sec
#17 by Bmants on February 7, 2010 - 5:09 pm
More horse power to do what, what in the hell are you going to do with more than 500hp? It is a street car, get over it.
You car mag people are outright childish and unrealistic.

500 bhp from 3.8 liter straight 6 is pretty impressive… why doesnt he like it?
#19 by Towelman20 on February 7, 2010 - 6:26 pm
Well i think the new 997 turbo would acclerate to 60mph faster than a 997 gt2 because of the fact that the new 97 turbo will get awd and paddle shifters but i’m not to sure about the fact that it might be full on faster than a 997 gt2 through the 1/4mile the new 997 turbo has more driver aids but the 997 gt2 is lighter has more power and torque so if you drag raced a 997 turbo against a 997 gt2 the 997 turbo would pull away at the start but the 997 gt2 would pull ahead through the rest of th way

Yes u right, but for the LP to make 3.2 sec to 100 and 11.2 for the 1/4mile takes launch control use, witch doesn’t last to long in terms of uses, also I think that on the 1/4 mile the cars will be close, and i bet that the new 997 T will be faster than the GT2 witch on the straight line gains on the LP after 175 meters: (drove both cars, owner of 997 T 680HP and Ferrari 599 GTB)
#21 by Towelman20 on February 7, 2010 - 7:18 pm
yes but most car and driver road and track motortrend etc test resaults for porsche s are ussually similar if not better then their manufactor claims about performance remember that us car mags do get the best test resaults when it comes to testing cars i mean the lp560 may not have the best paddle shifters in the world but can you complain anymore i mean roadandtrack clocked it going to 60 in 3.2 and the 1/4mile in 11.2 wich is very going to be intimidateing towards its main competitors.
#22 by cosrin on February 7, 2010 - 7:40 pm
Oh, i really think that you are mistaking when you say that the new 997 T will be raped by the Ferrari or the Lambo, considering that the Lambo has a crap gearbox and the Ferrari has a rear traction, all considered i think that the real performance will be put down by the 997T, on all tests. So I don’t think u will have to wait for the 998 to beat the 2 cars u mentioned. We all have to wait and see ’cause figures on paper are not always true…
#23 by Towelman20 on February 7, 2010 - 8:39 pm
well i do think that despite the fact that the new 997 turbo has paddle shifters to put the 500hp down to the ground really well i still think the 458 italia and lp560 are going to rape the new 997 turbo but then again the new 997 turbo is just an update its not a start of a new generation of 911’s but when porsche starts a new generation of 911’s the 998 generation should be able to fight back
#24 by mahamza86 on February 7, 2010 - 8:51 pm
Well, let’s just keep out figures crossed and wait for 998 version of the 911 Turbo
#25 by luigi1229 on February 7, 2010 - 9:44 pm
yeah, for stock, thats quite impressive.
